Appointments update – 18 September 2025

PensionBee has announced the appointment of Maike Currie as vice president of personal finance.

Currie brings 20 years of experience in communication, commentary, client engagement and personal finance to her new role. She has held senior roles at Hargreaves Lansdown, Fidelity International and Investec Asset Management (now Ninety One). She began her career as a financial journalist, writing for several Financial Times publications, including Investors Chronicle. She is also a published author. Most recently, Currie held the role of head of marketing campaigns & content at Hargreaves Lansdown. She is also a leading voice on the need to close the gender pension gap and the importance of encouraging more women to invest. In her new role, Currie will play a central role in shaping the company’s personal finance and consumer engagement strategy.

Aegon has appointed Alice McIntosh as director of consultancy and adviser relationships to its workplace distribution team.

McIntosh has been at Aegon for 28 years and moved from her current role as strategic development director within the workplace distribution team on 1 September 2025, following the retirement of Martin Trenchard after six years with Aegon. In her new role, she is responsible for developing, broadening and strengthening relationships with Employee Benefits Collectives across the UK, and is part of Aegon’s workplace senior leadership team. McIntosh will report directly to Aegon commercial director for workplace, Nick Roy. Commenting on her appointment, McIntosh said she is “delighted” to be taking on this new challenge and is “looking forward” to playing a part in helping Aegon’s clients and advisers navigate the opportunities ahead.

Aviva Investors has appointed James Edwards as head of UK institutional.

The appointment comes as the company continues to build out its dedicated resources and capabilities for institutional investor clients across global markets. Edwards will be based in London and will report to head of institutional EMEA, Steven Gardner, who joined Aviva Investors in August 2024. Edwards joins from Colombia Threadneedle, where he was director of institutional business. Before that, he held several roles at BlackRock, where he was director as part of its Fixed Income product strategy team and a client director. He has also held roles at Barclays Global Investors and BNY Mellon.
