SEI Master Trust has appointed two trustee directors and a new chair.
Chris Roberts and Azka Ali have been appointed to the SEI Master Trust Board of Directors as as trustee directors. Roberts will also serve as chair of the trustee. Roberts took over this position on 1 May from Allan Course, following Course's retirement. Course first joined the SEI Master Trust as a director in 2007 and has served as chair of the trustee since 2016. Commenting on the news, SEI Master Trust head, David Snowdon, said: “We are tremendously grateful to Allan for his dedication to the master trust and its members, and for the contributions he has made during his tenure on the board and as chair of the trustee. We are thrilled to welcome Chris as the new chair and Azka as a trustee director. They bring extensive pensions expertise and experience supporting a wide range of schemes.”
Legal & General (L&G) has appointed Rob Groves as chief investment officer of its Institutional Retirement business.
Groves brings nearly three decades of investment experience delivering for pension clients across market cycles. He joins L&G from Pension Insurance Corporation (PIC), where he was chief investment officer and an Executive Committee member, leading investment strategy, asset‑liability management and portfolio construction. In his new role, Groves will lead global investment strategy and portfolio management for L&G’s Institutional Retirement business. He will also support secure, long‑term outcomes for approximately 800,000 customers and help trustees and sponsors access scale, governance and delivery.
People’s Partnership has announced the appointment of Peter McCusker as its first chief legal officer.
McCusker joins from Pinsent Masons, where he was a corporate partner in London. He has extensive experience as a senior lawyer and corporate governance specialist and a track record of supporting organisations through strategic change. Earlier in his career, he spent 11 years at Royal London, most recently serving as group deputy general counsel from 2020 to 2024. In his time at Royal London, he held significant executive leadership roles within both Royal London and Royal London Asset Management.
Penfold has appointed Sam Horner as head of accounting partnerships.
Horner has over 20 years of experience in the accounting industry, with the last decade focused on Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions for accountants and small to medium enterprises. He began his career at Barclays as a premier relationship manager before moving to Receipt Bank and Futrli. He has also served as global head of strategic partnerships at Swoop and head of accounting partnerships at Employment Hero. In his new role, Horner will be responsible for building and supporting partnerships with accounting firms across the UK, with a particular focus on making workplace pensions easier to understand, implement, and manage.
