Appointments update – 27 April 2026

The Northern Local Government Pension Scheme Pool has appointed Elizabeth Renshaw-Ames as chair and Paras Anand as chief executive officer (CEO) of Northern LGPS Ltd, subject to Financial Conduct Authority approval.

Renshaw-Ames brings substantial senior governance, asset management and large pension scheme experience to her new role. She has a record of leading complex, large-scale organisations across professional services and financial sectors. Accomplished in both executive and non-executive roles, including within her position as senior independent non-executive director at Sarasin and Partners. Renshaw-Ames has also held the role of chair of the Aviva Master Trust, non-executive chair of Barnett Waddingham and CEO of the HSBC Bank (UK) Pension Trust. Meanwhile, Anand most recently served as chief investment officer (CIO) at Artemis Investment Management. Prior to this, he held multiple investment roles, including CIO for Asia Pacific at Fidelity International.

XPS Group has appointed 12 partners and promoted 171 colleagues.

The promotions, which took from 1 April 2026, have been made across all service lines. The new partners are Charlotte Jones, James Chandler, James Foster, Melissa Stanford, Nicola Young, Tom Froggett, Deborah Churchward, Ivet Frago-Plana, Matthew Dodds, Sophia Cosgrove, Carol Watkins, and Sarah Rixon. Young and Foster were promoted to pensions actuarial partner, while Jones and Chandler were promoted to actuarial operations partner. Stanford was promoted to partner of risk settlement, Froggett was promoted to partner of defined benefit run-on, and Frago-Plana was promoted to partner of pension fund accounting. Meanwhile, Churchward was promoted to partner of administration payroll, Cosgrove to partner of administration, and Dodds to CRM partner. The final two partner appointments are Watkins for legal and Rixon for company secretarial.

WTW Scotland has announced several new hires and promotions within its Retirement and Pensions Outsourcing teams.

Heather Wright, James Cassidy and Lindsay Cassidy have been appointed to the WTW Scotland team in its Retirement Data & Project Manager specialism, while Andrew Mills and Lynne Campbell have joined WTW’s Governance and Pensions Solutions (GPS) team in Glasgow. In addition to this, WTW has also made several promotions to senior director level across its Edinburgh and Glasgow-based Retirement team. Paul Whelan will take a leadership role in WTW’s Glasgow Retirement team, and Laura Martin has been appointed scheme actuary to a multi-billion-pound Scotland-based pension scheme. Meanwhile, alongside his ongoing role on the Edinburgh Retirement management team, Ross McIntosh will take on a new role, ensuring WTW’s AI capabilities and colleague development in Scotland remain advanced.
