Pension Insurance Corporation (PIC) has appointed Dom Veney as interim chief executive officer.
Veney joined the company in April 2018 as chief actuary and has served as chief financial officer since October 2021. Veney has nearly 30 years of experience in the UK life insurance industry, holding roles such as a partner at PwC, where he led the UK Life Actuarial Practice. He will assume the role when the current chief executive officer, Tracy Blackwell, retires on 31 December 2025. The board of directors began a formal search for a permanent CEO in February 2025, following Blackwell’s announcement of her intention to retire. The process, which considered both internal and external candidates, was extended to accommodate the acquisition of PIC by Athora Holding Limited, announced in July. The acquisition is expected to close in early 2026, subject to regulatory approval.

Additionally, both Tajahe Downie and Alexa Sotiris will hold the role of senior associate. Downie joins from Hymans Robertson, while Sotiris steps into the role from within XPS.

Both Holden and Sinclair will report to L&G CEO, António Simões, and Holden will become a member of L&G’s Group Management Committee, while Sinclair will become a member of Andrew Kail’s chief financial officer leadership team. Holden is currently Man Group chief people officer and has almost two decades of senior people leadership, including 17 years at Schroders in various positions across HR, communications and investor relations. He brings nearly two decades of actuarial and analyst experience across the insurance and finance sectors, including at Bank of America and Standard Life. He is also a fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries. Holden’s appointment is subject to regulatory approval, and both will start their new roles at the end of January 2026.
