The Pension Protection Fund (PPF) has appointed David Atkinson to its board as a non-executive director (NED).
Atkinson has extensive finance and risk management experience, having previously spent 23 years at Goldman Sachs, including nine years as a managing director with regional responsibility. He is also a NED and board risk committee chair for Mizuho, and a Ned at Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust. Commenting on the appointment, PPF chair, Kate Jones, suggested that Atkinson will help to support the PPF’s “as we approach the next phase of our strategic plan and embrace the recommendations of the Department for Work and Pensions' recent review”.
The Cardano Group has promoted Claire Bowyer to the role of deputy CEO at Now Pensions.
In her new role, Bowyer will focus on the commercial, investment and governance aspects at Now Pensions, as well as managing all client-related teams. She initially joined Cardano in 2009 and has over 20 years’ legal experience, also acting as group counsel. As general counsel, she manages the legal and regulatory aspects affecting Cardano’s business and clients’ investments. In addition to this, Bowyer sits on the group management board and will continue as a group partner and a director of Cardano UK.
The LifeSight trustee board has appointed Simon Ellis as its new chair.
Ellis will succeed Jane Platt as she steps down after her second term, with the appointment already cleared by The Pensions Regulator. Ellis is an experienced chair and NED, currently acting as Morgan Stanley (ACD) UK chair, Vision Independent Financial Planning chair, and Marlborough Investment Management non-executive director. Prior to this, he also held senior roles at organisations including HSBC, Legal and General, Fidelity International, AXA and Henderson Global Investors. He has particular expertise in providing financial products and services for retail customers and has also been active within the Investment Association.
