News in brief - 5 November 2021

AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) Alts has launched a new Global Secured Assets Strategy.

The strategy will invest through an open-ended vehicle across a wide range of assets in both public and private markets to provide clients with a diversified portfolio of global secured finance assets. It will draw on AXA IM Alts’ global investment platform to identify attractive investment opportunities, with the aim to build a globally diverse portfolio of assets, in order to support the number of pension schemes in the UK and Europe increasingly looking to diversify their investment portfolios.

Pensions for Purpose and The Good Economy have launched the Place-Based Impact Investment Forum.

The forum is expected to promote the scaling-up of place-based impact investing, with a goal to increase flows into local and regional UK investment that delivers local social, economic, and environmental benefits, particularly in areas of the country that have suffered from under-investment. It will bring together key sources of demand and supply of institutional capital, including asset owners, intermediaries, asset managers, local government, and local and regional project partners.

Willis Towers Watson’s (WTW) defined contribution (DC) master trust, LifeSight, has announced plans to invest nearly $1bn in WTW’s Climate Transition Index (CTI) Fund.

The CTI fund was launched through the Asset Management Exchange, and tracks the STOXX WTW World Climate Transition Index, which makes a forward-looking, bottom-up evaluation of transition risk and opportunity for each company. The index also looks beyond carbon emissions, using its Climate Transition Value at Risk methodology to analyse the impact that moving to a low carbon economy, aligned to the Paris agreement, will have on projected company cash flow.
