Pensions for Purpose has announced it has changed its name to Investors for Purpose, as it looks to reflect a wider range of institutional investors and organisations.
The independent membership organisation aims to bring together institutional investors, their advisers, and partners to align capital with long-term value.
It was founded in 2017 to help pension schemes embed sustainability and impact into investment decision making.
Membership had since expanded to also include insurers, endowments, foundations, investment managers, consultants, advisers, academics, policymakers, and mission-driven organisations.
The organisation said the move to Investors for Purpose recognised that long-term investment outcomes were shaped across the broader investment chain.
With a wider collection of investor types and their partners, Investors for Purpose is aiming to strengthen collaboration and help institutional investors address systemic risks and opportunities affecting long-term value creation.
Pensions for Purpose will remain a dedicated community within the new structure, supporting pension schemes and trustees.
“Pension funds remain at the heart of our work and always will,” commented Investors for Purpose CEO, Charlotte O’Leary.
“But the investment system is interconnected, and long-term outcomes are influenced by many actors – insurers, advisers, asset managers, and policymakers among them.
“Investors for Purpose reflects that reality. By bringing these groups together we can strengthen the ecosystem around pension funds and other institutional investors, helping them deliver sustainable long-term value.”
Investors for Purpose also announced plans to organise its work around six ‘Ecosystem Themes’: System & Governance Change, Impact Integration, Place Lens, People Value, Climate Innovation, and Biodiversity & Natural Capital.
“Our purpose remains the same: supporting institutional investors to turn sustainability and impact ambition into investment practice,” said Investors for Purpose chair and founder, Karen Shackleton.
“This progression simply gives us a structure that better reflects how the investment system has evolved.”
