CQS appoints Xavier Rolet as CEO

CQS has named Xavier Rolet as CEO, while founder Michael Hintze will continue as senior investment officer and will also become group executive chairman.

Rolet will be responsible for leading the firm through its next stage of growth, and will work closely with Hintze, who will focus around on the group’s investment management.

Previously, Rolet was CEO of the London Stock Exchange for almost 10 years, and has also held senior positions in the Bank of England and the Treasury.

Over the past several years, CQS has concentrated on strengthening its hedge fund offering and putting in place appropriate governance.

Hintze commented: “He has the experience and has demonstrated he knows how to build financial services businesses. As CEO he will be responsible for managing and growing our firm. As Executive Chairman, I will continue to help shape CQS’ vision and direction.

“Importantly, Xavier and I have known one each other for 35 years, having worked together early in our careers in finance. There is mutual trust and respect. Xavier is a man of great integrity and one of the best CEOs I know. He is the ideal candidate.”

Rolet added: “CQS has a strong platform from which to grow. It has a great brand, investment management platform and talented people. I am very much looking forward to working with our teams to grow the firm in a rapidly changing environment for investment management.”
