Lumera has confirmed the continuation of its work supporting selected communications and engagement initiatives for members of the NHS Pension Scheme, under an extended agreement with the UK Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) through to March 2027.

The work is carried out in collaboration with NHS Pensions, which leads communications for the NHS Pension Scheme. Lumera provides specialist behavioural science, data-driven communications design and regulatory communications expertise to support some of the scheme’s most complex member engagement challenges, including the McCloud Remedy. Lumera director of behavioural science, Claire Hovey, commented: “We are pleased to continue supporting NHS Pensions on specific challenges where clear, personalised communication at the moment of a complex pension decision can make a meaningful difference to members’ understanding. Our role is to combine behavioural science and data-driven comms design to make sure members receive information that is technically robust while being genuinely usable, supporting confident financial decisions - particularly in areas where members may face complex or unfamiliar choices, including the McCloud Remedy.”

Border to Coast Pensions Partnership, on behalf of its partner funds, has agreed to a £400m UK residential real estate deal to acquire 866 single-family homes across 12 estates from Leaf Living.

The transaction will provide Border to Coast’s Partner Funds with exposure to family rental homes supported by long-term housing demand. The acquisition comes as Border to Coast continues to expand its UK Real Estate Fund, which launched 18 months ago and now has more than £2bn in Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) Partner Fund capital and assets. Mourant, the international professional services group, advised on the UK and Jersey governance aspects of the transaction, alongside CMS and Aberdeen Investments. Mourant Jersey head of investment funds, Joel Hernandez, said the deal highlighted the strength of the firm’s integrated real estate offering. He added: "It was a real privilege for the Mourant team to work alongside Border to Coast Pensions Partnership, Aberdeen and CMS in bringing this landmark transaction to life."

Just 17 per cent of parents talk to their children about saving for the future or pensions, despite 65 per cent agreeing that teaching children about investing from an early age is important, according to research from Aviva.

The findings showed that 23 per cent of parents had not discussed finances or money with their children at all, while only 13 per cent had discussed investing. Meanwhile, 26 per cent encouraged their children to save regularly, 25 per cent discussed the value of money and budgeting, and 18 per cent talked about debt and borrowing. Almost half (44 per cent) said the financial education they received as children still influenced their attitudes towards money. Aviva head of savings and retirement, Alistair McQueen, said: “The habits we develop when we're young often stay with us for life, so fostering an interest in money early in a child’s life could strengthen their financial confidence and help them get ready for tomorrow.”
