Appointments update – 18 February 2025

Pension Insurance Corporation (PIC) has announced its CEO Tracy Blackwell will retire.

Blackwell informed the board of her intention to retire after 20 years of service with the company. The board will now search for a successor, considering internal and external candidates. Blackwell will support the board in the transition. Commenting on her retirement, Blackwell said: “It has been a privilege to work at and lead PIC. I am so proud of what we have achieved together, and it has only been possible because of the dedication, commitment, and talent of the people at PIC. I look forward to watching the business continue to grow.”

Hymans Robertson has appointed Kathryn Fleming as head of defined contribution (DC) consulting and Emma Cameron as head of investment consultancy.

Flemming will take up her role from April 2025 and will take over the role from Mark Jaffray who will be focused on strategic investment advice and innovation. She joined as part of the firm's graduate program, has been a partner since 2019, and is the head of DC at-retirement service. Flemming is also a trustee and governor at the Pensions Policy Institute and is a member of the industry-wide Pensions Equity Group. Meanwhile, Cameron is a partner and joined the firm in 2012, having previously worked at Deloitte and Mercer. She replaces Anthony Ellis who has led the team for six years. She is also chair of the firm’s investment committee and is a member of the partnership council one of the firm’s governing groups.

Aegon UK has announced the appointment of Amanda Wright as general counsel and company secretary, effective May 2025.

She joined from Chesnara where she was group general counsel, company secretary, and a member of the executive leadership team. Prior to this, Amanda spent 15 years with Standard Life and, subsequently, Abrdn, where she held several senior leadership roles including head of legal for the platform business and latterly head of strategic relationships. She replaces James MacKenzie who has held the positions since 2009. Commenting on the appointment, Aegon UK chief executive, Mike Holliday-Williams, said: “I’m very much looking forward to working with Amanda when she joins in May, and to the support she will provide me and the rest of the executive team.”
