UK pension schemes have invested in BlackRock's solar portfolio through Greencoat Capital LLP.
Greencoat has agreed the acquisition of a 156MW solar portfolio from BlackRock Real Assets and Lightsource bp. The investment was made by Greencoat Solar II LP on behalf of several of the UK’s largest pension funds. The deal marks the first successful realisation for BlackRock’s Global Renewable Power II Fund. BlackRock acquired a 90 per cent stake in the portfolio in 2017, while Lightsource bp maintained 10 per cent. Greencoat has now acquired 100 per cent ownership.
The Local Pensions Partnership (LPP) has issued seven tips for savers to avoid pension scams.
LPP warned its 600,000 pension members to reject all unexpected offers, verify who they are dealing with, to check contact details carefully and to make sure not to get pressured into making a decision. Furthermore, it urged savers to get impartial information from services such as the Pensions Advisory Service, make sure that they do not waste their money on ‘pension liberation’ deals that promise early access to savings, and if there are any doubts, to avoid and report the concern to Action Fraud.
Aegon and Pension Geeks have launched a film to address the most common workplace pension queries.
The organisations launched the film to address questions from employers and employees related to the impact of the coronavirus on their pensions and savings. It features each question being asked by a person and an expert response being given using webchat along with a voiceover. The film covers questions such as: ‘What happens to my workplace pension contributions if I’ve been furloughed and am on reduced pay?’; ‘What happens to my pension if my employer goes bust?’ and; ‘Are investment strategies for default funds being reduced?’.
