Nationwide appoints Best Trustees to pension scheme

Nationwide has appointed Best Trustees’ Catherine Redmond to its pension scheme as an independent professional trustee.

The bank’s head of pensions, Ian Baines, said that a thorough review of the market was undertaken and they were impressed by Best Trustees.

“We look forward to working with them in the years to come developing and implementing proposals on medium and long-term strategy,” he added.

Commenting on the appointment, Best Trustees chairman Alan Pickering said: “Being selected by such an organisation as Nationwide, and particularly as a result of a highly competitive tender and interview process is especially pleasing.”

Redmond joined the board on 1 July 2018. She has extensive experience of larger UK
pension schemes and also holds pension trustee appointments in the technology, banking and charity sectors.

The scheme has also announced that after serving six years as a trustee, Philip Whittome left the board at the end of June 2018.
