Appointments update - 9 March 2023

Standard Life has appointed Maggie Craig as a non-executive director on its Independent Governance Committee (IGC).

As membership of the IGC for each company in the Phoenix Group is harmonised, Craig will also sit on the IGC for Phoenix Life and ReAssure. She has extensive experience working with a variety of financial services providers, including Aegon and the Association of British Insurers. She also joined the Financial Conduct Authority in 2014 as head of insurance and pensions policy, before being appointed head of department, Scotland, in 2017. Outside of financial services, Craig is also chair of Children First, and chairs the Scottish Courts and Tribunal Service Audit and Risk Committee.

XTP Implementation Services has appointed Mike O’Donnell as chief executive officer.

O’Donnell's appointment is expected to support XTP’s growth plans in the public pension space in the UK. He joins from London CIV, where he was chief executive officer for four years, and has over 30 years’ experience in local government finance and corporate service functions. This includes 13 years at the London Borough of Camden and serving as interim finance director at Birmingham City Council and the London Borough of Newham. He is also former president of the Society of London Treasurers and former chair of the London Finance Advisory Committee, as well as a former non-executive director and chair of the Audit and Risk Committee of the London Pension Fund Authority.

3173 Limited, the parent company for Dalriada Trustees, Spence & Partners and Mantle Hosting, has appointed a new CFO and non-executive chair.

The group named Geoffrey Farmer as group chief financial officer and Stephan Wilcke as non-executive chair. Farmer, a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland, brings extensive experience to the role, having worked in finance director roles across a range of companies and sectors during his career, including regulated financial services, software development and distribution. Wilcke, meanwhile, brings experience as an independent director on a variety of company boards. He is also currently a supervisory board member at Hamburg Commercial Bank, chairman of the Audit Committee of SaarLB and a senior independent director at LendInvest.
