Appointments update – 21 April 2026

Marsh has appointed Niall O’Sullivan as Mercer global chief investment officer.

He succeeds Hooman Kaveh, who will assume the newly created role of executive chair for Mercer’s Investment Platform. O’Sullivan and Kaveh will report to Mercer president for investments and retirement, Michael Dempsey. In his new role, O’Sullivan will lead the full range of Mercer’s investment capabilities, and all asset class teams will report to him. Meanwhile, Kaveh will lead several key strategic initiatives, including a focus on mergers and acquisitions and integrating AI into Mercer’s investment processes. He will continue to chair the Investment Governance Committee.

Legal & General (L&G) has appointed Nigel Drury as chief risk officer for asset management, subject to regulatory approval.

Drury will have responsibility for leading and overseeing risk management across L&G's Asset Management business. He brings over 30 years of risk experience to the role, spanning banking, wealth and asset management. He has held senior positions, most recently serving as chief risk officer at Schroders, following earlier roles at JPMorgan and ABN AMRO/RBS. His experience includes significant UK regulatory engagement (Prudential Regulatory Authority/Financial Conduct Authority) and board-level governance expertise. When he starts his new role on 18 May, he will report to L&G Group’s chief risk officer, Chris Knight, and Asset Management CEO, Eric Adler.

Trafalgar House has made 15 internal promotions across the business.

The majority of the promotions reflect progression within existing roles and teams, alongside select role changes and the creation of new positions to support evolving client needs. Sarah Couldridge, Chloe Tinkler, Ben Haines, and Madeleine Claridge-Ware were promoted from pensions associate to senior pensions associate. Meanwhile, Sophie Rhodes was promoted from senior pensions associate to lead pensions associate, Mark Clarkson was promoted from senior pensions associate to member experience specialist and Emily Gelis was promoted from senior pensions analyst to client projects delivery manager. In addition, three apprentices (Falis Hussein, Ella Duffy, and Tommy McCarthy) were promoted to pensions associates.
