Gowling WLG pensions team leader Glyn Ryland will retire on 30 April.
Ryland has been in the role since December 1999, during which time the team has grown from consisting of six lawyers to acting for some of the largest schemes in the country. The team has specialist sub-teams covering areas such as risk transfer, pensions disputes, public sector pensions, combined human resources, and DC/master trusts. Jason Coates will take over the leadership of the Gowling WLG pensions team, having be preparing to move into the role over the past year.
Legal & General (L&G) has selected Jasan Fitzpatrick as its new managing director of principal investment.
With more than two decades of experience in the property and investment sectors, Fitzpatrick has been with the company since July 2018, when he joined from CALA Group. He has previously served as general counsel and company secretary at Premium Credit Limited and Northern Rock. L&G said its principal investment strategy would “continue to evolve” under Fitzpatrick’s leadership, with pioneering access to the venture capital asset class for defined contribution customers set to be “a key area of focus” during his tenure.
BlueBay Asset Management has announced the hire of Illya Zyskind as portfolio manager
Zyskind’s work in the newly created role will be based in London, where he will report to head of emerging markets, Polina Kurdyavko. Zyskind will work alongside fellow recent hire Mihai Florian to develop BlueBay’s capabilities in illiquid emerging market corporate credit through co-investment opportunities and new closed-ended investment strategies.
