Appointments update 2 October 2019

Smart Pension has named Ruston Smith as chair of its board of directors.

Smith is chair of Smart Pension's International Advisory Board and has been a non-executive director at the firm since September 2018. He will replace former Virgin CEO Stephen Murphy, who has stepped down from the role.


B&CE, provider of The People's Pension, has appointed Jane Dunlop as its general counsel.

Dunlop joined B&CE in September, bringing with her experience from holding senior roles within the financial services, insurance and pensions sectors. She was previously director of legal (life) for Aviva UK Insurance and head of legal for Friends Like UK.


Buck has appointed Brian Fray, Sarah Brown, Carl Hitchman, Mark Alexander and Roberta Burns to various roles.

Fray joins Buck’s modelling team as a senior consultant after spending more than 20 years at Mercer, Brown joins as a principal and senior consulting actuary, with nearly 20 years’ experience in the pensions industry, and Hitchman has been appointed as a principal and senior investment consultant. Alexander has been named a senior consulting actuary, having most recently worked at Willis Towers Watson, while Burns joins Buck as a senior consulting actuary from Mercer.
