Railpen has appointed Helen Whelan as chief risk officer and Sian Myers as chief people officer.
Whelan will join Railpen in late March, while Myers will join in April. Whelan joins from Brown Shipley & Co, where she held the role of chief risk officer. Before this, she worked at LGT Wealth Management for almost 16 years, most recently as head of risk. In her new role, Whelan will lead business-wide action to identify and mitigate financial, compliance and operational risks and will replace interim chief risk officer, Craig Hamilton. Meanwhile, Myers joins Railpen from Ageas UK, where she held the role of chief people officer. She has previously worked as chief people officer at Countryside Partnerships, now Vistry Group, and in senior human resources positions at Ford Motor Company. In her new role, she will be responsible for the company’s people strategy and will replace Paula Brack, who is retiring. Both Whelan and Myers will join Railpen’s Executive Committee, reporting directly to Railpen chief executive officer, Andy Bord.
Julian Lyne has been appointed as head of UK institutional at Franklin Templeton.
Lyne joins from The Pensions Regulator, where he was the interim executive director of market oversight. Prior to this, Lyne spent a decade at Newton Investments (part of BNY Mellon) as chief commercial officer. In his earlier career, he held leadership roles at F&C Investments and HSBC Investments, where he managed global consultant relations and developed key institutional products. In his new role, Lyne will be responsible for shaping and executing the asset manager’s UK institutional strategy and report to Franklin Templeton head of UK, Andrew Ashton. He will oversee relationships across the full spectrum of institutional channels, including family offices, endowments, local government pension schemes, defined benefit and defined contribution pensions/master trusts, insurance clients, and consultant relations.
Moneybox has appointed James Leigh-Pemberton as a non-executive director to its board.
Leigh-Pemberton became a shareholder in the organisation in 2017 and, in his role as non-executive director, he will draw on his expertise in corporate governance, regulatory oversight and complex stakeholder management. He has previously served as chief executive and later executive chairman of UK Financial Investments, before becoming deputy chair of UK Government Investments. Prior to this, he was CEO of Credit Suisse’s UK business and head of European investment banking. More recently, he held the role of chairman of RIT Capital Partners and is currently chair of the Council of the Duchy of Lancaster.
