Appointments update - 20 January 2023

Mercer has named Tom Austin as a director in its UK covenant advisory team.

Austin is a qualified accountant with almost two decades of professional services experience, including roles at KPMG and, most recently, Interpatch Advisory. In particular, Austin has experience working with trustees and corporates across a range of situations, such as valuations, advising on the impact of restructuring, transactions, and performance monitoring. His appointment is the latest in a number of hires to Mercer’s UK covenant advisory team, taking the total size of the team to 15.

XTP has appointed David Bennet as a non-executive director and senior advisor.

The new role will see Bennet support XTP’s growth in the institutional asset owner space in the UK. He joins the team after nearly 13 years at Redington, including as a board member, head of research, senior consultant, and chair of Redington’s Investment Strategy Committee. Prior to this, he spent 24 years at Goldman Sachs, including seven years working in the Pensions and Insurance Strategy Group advising UK pension funds and insurance companies, as well as serving as a trustee and investment committee member of the Goldman Sachs defined benefit pension (DB) fund.

Mediolanum International Funds (MIFL) has announced the appointment of Giorgio Carlino as its new head of multi management.

Based in Dublin, Carlino will report directly to MIFL chief investment officer, Christophe Jaubert. Carlino will be responsible for leading both the manager selection team and the multi-manager portfolio management team, and will also be part of the MIFL Investment Committee. He has 22 years of experience in the industry, having previously held a variety of roles in his career, including multiple roles at Allianz Global Investors, most recently as global chief investment officer for multi asset strategies.
