Appointments update 16 August 2022

Now Pensions has appointed Paul Smee to its board of directors.

Smee is currently a board member of the Regulator of Social Housing and member of the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission. Prior to this, he was director general of the Council of Mortgage Lender from 2011 to 2017, and ran the Association for Payment Clearing Services (APACS). Smee was also the first Director General of the Association of Independent Financial Advisors from 1999-2004. He succeeds Laurie Edmans.

Sackers has announced several promotions for 2022.

The law firm has promoted Kirsty Pake and Andrew Worthington to associate director, while Lucy Bennett, Shannon Diggory, Hannah Savill and Paige Willis have been promoted to the role of senior associate. In a first for Sackers, Adeline Chapman has also completed the journey from paralegal to partner, having initially joined the firm in 2008, before becoming qualified in 2011.

The Investment Association (IA) has named Patrick Thomson as chair of its board.

As part of the 18-strong board, the J.P. Morgan Asset Management EMEA CEO, Thomson, will be responsible for championing the investment management industry and ensuring the priorities of its firms and their customers are heard by policymakers and regulators. Thomson is currently deputy chair of the IA board and will replace Keith Skeoch from 27 September 2022.
