Wilmington leaves L&G for Scottish Widows

Matt Wilmington has left Legal & General to join Scottish Widows in a move that will see him take on the role of head of origination and structuring for bulk annuities at the firm.

Wilmington was previously director of strategic transactions in Legal & General's Pension Risk Transfer team, having joined the company in April 2016. Prior to this, Wilmington spent close to 15 years at Aon Hewitt where he was a partner in their international retirement and investment practice.

He also led Aon’s Global Pension Risk Management group which specialises in providing advice to multinationals on longevity risk management.

In May this year, Scottish Widows completed an £880m buy-in on behalf of the Littlewoods Pension Scheme. The firm to date has completed 17 bulk annuity arrangements securing the benefits of over 25,000 pension scheme members.

Commenting on his move, Wilmington told Pensions Age: "I’m excited to be joining a dynamic and successful team at a time when the demand for bulk annuities is growing so rapidly, and particularly looking forward to working with the team to meet our clients needs in this ever evolving market."
