Virgin Media ruling highlighted as a 'top priority' for government

Nearly half (45 per cent) of pension professionals want the government to prioritise work to resolve issues arising from the recent Virgin Media case, the Society of Pension Professionals (SPP) has found.

In a poll at its latest Annual Conference session, the SPP found that, when asked what one piece of legislation the government should now prioritise, 45 per cent chose the Virgin Media case.

This was followed by 19 per cent who wanted the automatic enrolment threshold scrapped and minimum age requirements lowered.

Commenting on the findings, SPP president, Sophia Singleton, said: “It’s clear that our members are very concerned about the implications of the Virgin Media court case, with 45 per cent of those surveyed at the SPP Conference wanting the issue prioritised by the government.

"We urge the government to use the powers they have to intervene and resolve this critical issue.”
