Maps begins search for dashboard steering group

The Money and Pensions Service (Maps) is looking for members of the industry to express their interest in being part of the pensions dashboard steering group.

The group, which will be responsible for providing strategic direction for the pensions dashboard development, is seeking candidates from pensions, consumer advocacy and financial services and finch sectors.

In addition, the steering group will support the dashboards Industry Delivery Group (IDG), headed up by chair and principle Chris Curry, with a specific focus on building consensus among those impacted by the implementation and rollout of the dashboards.

Commenting, Curry said: “I am pleased to be moving forward with the next step in the development of pensions dashboards in beginning recruitment for the steering group. Our aim is to have a group that incorporates the independent expertise of industry and consumer representatives who understand first-hand how people engage with their pensions.

“We anticipate a high level of interest from both industry and consumer representatives and look forward to bringing together a steering group that will play a key role in delivering a trusted service that enables innovative pensions dashboards, helping people to better engage with their pensions and retirement planning.”

The group will be made up of 12 people, including the the starring group chair and IDG implementation director, Angela Pober, with representatives including providers, administrators, trustees and insurers.

Applications will be open until 26 August, before a selection panel will produce a shortlist of candidates.

Last month, The Department for Work and Pensions called for a “pragmatic” approach to dashboard delivery in order to get it up and running and stated that one of the biggest blockers to a successful implementation of the dashboard it “hoping to achieve consensus on everything”.
