Appointments update – 29 October 2026

Eversheds Sutherland has announced the appointment of partner Sophie White as its new practice group head for employment, labour and pensions.

White currently leads Eversheds Sutherland’s London employment team and will take on the new role from 1 November. She succeeds Diane Gilhooley, who has led the group since 2017, and who will retire from Eversheds Sutherland at the end of this year after more than 25 years with the firm. She is a highly experienced employment lawyer, advising clients on complex international, transactional and contentious employment matters, as well as sensitive senior-level investigations and major workforce and organisational change.

Quilter has appointed Kristy Barr as managing director for UK platform and investment solutions and Kit Rees as investment strategist.

Barr brings extensive experience across the financial services industry and will lead Quilter’s adviser-facing platform and investment distribution teams when she joins the business in early 2027. She has held senior leadership roles at Aberdeen, BMO Global Asset Management and, most recently, Octopus Investments, where she served as head of retail and a member of the executive committee. Barr will report to Quilter chief distribution officer, Steve Gazard.

GLIL Infrastructure has appointed Stuart Baldwin as an independent investment committee member.

Baldwin brings more than 25 years of experience in infrastructure investment and board-level governance. Most of his career has been spent at GIC. He became the first member of its infrastructure team in 2005 and went on to lead the business as global head of infrastructure. Baldwin has also held non-executive roles at several major infrastructure businesses, including 18 years on the board of Heathrow Airport and also served as director at Yorkshire Water, Budapest Airport, Terminal Investment Limited and Storegga. He will also sit on GLIL’s Investment Committee.
