Legal and General (L&G) has appointed Lucy Blanchard-Burton as head of master trust and Independent Governance Committee (IGC).
In her new position, she will be responsible for a dedicated team that supports the L&G Mastertrust Board as well as the IGC. Blanchard-Burton joins from Scottish Widows, where she was master trust pension manager. She previously worked in several client- and trustee-facing roles within the pensions industry, supporting defined benefit, defined contribution (DC) and trust-based schemes. She will report to L&G global head of DC, Lesley-Ann Morgan, and will work closely with the L&G Mastertrust and IGC. Commenting on the appointment, Morgan said Blanchard-Burton’s “deep expertise” in master trusts and IGCs as well as the broader pensions industry, will play a “crucial” role as L&G continue to grow and enhance its offering to better serve members.
Aptia has appointed Sue Doughty as head of its UK pension administration business.
She currently serves as Aptia's chief client officer and played a central role in the establishment of Aptia. Doughty brings over 35 years of experience in the pensions industry to her new role, having overseen client relationship management, service delivery and project management across a wide range of pension arrangements. In her new position, she will continue to lead and strengthen client delivery within Aptia’s pensions administration business and be responsible for key relationships with clients and independent trustees.
Pension Lab has named Steve Goddard as chair and Kevin Okell as non-executive director.
Goddard brings over three decades of experience in the pensions industry across administration, governance, and the master trust market. He is HS Trustee CEO, Goddard Perry managing director, and Salvus Master Trust founder, acquired by Cushon in 2020 (now NatWest Cushon). Okell founded Altus Consulting in 2005, building it into a specialist consultancy and automation business serving the advice, investment, and pensions sectors, and later led the business through its acquisition by Equisoft. Commenting on the appointments, Pension Lab CEO and founder, Scott Phillips, said: “Steve and Kevin's appointments strengthen our board as we enter the next growth stage. Steve adds deep pensions governance and operational leadership, and Kevin brings extensive fintech strategy and automation experience.”
