Rothsay has appointed three independent non-executive directors (Neds) to its board.
The new hires, Ed Giera, Jane Hanson, and Heather Jackson, bring broad experience across a range of industries to the role, including in banking, insurance, retail and infrastructure to the firm. Following the departure of Simon Morris as an independent Ned, the new appointments will ensure that Rothesay’s board continues to have a majority of independent Neds. The appointments also follow the decision by Rothesay shareholders, GIC and MassMutual, to increase their investment in Rothesay through a transaction announced in September 2020, which means that each of the shareholders will now have the right to appoint two NEDs.
Aon has been appointed to provide administration services to the £3.25bn General Motors UK pension scheme.
Whilst the 18,000-member schemes have historically run their administration in-house, the trustees decided to outsource this for the first time in 2019, with the aim of finding a partner that could match and build on the existing quality service provided to member. Aon, who already acted as scheme actuary to three of the four group schemes, was subsequently selected as such following a "rigorous selection and due diligence process". Commenting on the appointment, GM UK Pension Trustees chairman, Rob Assinder, stated: “We have had a proven working relationship with Aon in its actuarial role for some time and after a rigorous selection and due diligence process, were confident that Aon’s Pensions Administration team was 100 per cent committed to building on that existing link and was the right organisation with which to partner."
