As the new Pensions Manager to this medium-sized in-house pension scheme (outsourced administration) you will be the go to pension's specialist from basic pensions for members to technical and legal guidance to the Trustee Board. As Secretary to the Trustees the Board will rely on you for ongoing guidance and advice. You will have the freedom to advise and influence as the subject matter expert. The company have closed Defined Benefit Schemes, and an open Defined Contribution scheme. You will have one direct report. You only need work 1 day in the office if you wish, more if you prefer. Most people tend to do 2 days in the office, 3 at home but the choice is yours.
You will have worked in a similar role either currently or previously as an in-house Pensions Manager, or alternatively a consultancy as the Client Manager and Secretary to the Trustees for your clients. You must be able to forge relationships with external parties and suppliers, and ensure value is achieved. Professional qualifications are always viewed favourably, but so are a strong external network of contacts and resources, and event attendance, to ensure your industry knowledge is always up to date.
Reporting to the Executive Director of HR, and working within an 80-strong department of HR and other related professionals, the company take a strategic collaborative approach. Because of what this in-house pensions department company does, you will be joining a company of like-minded caring specialists, passionate about their role and doing the best they can for the good of all the company and those they serve. Should you wish to get involved in other areas and have a wider remit, the previous post-holder also covered reward, but this is optional in the future should you wish only. You will also have the chance to help with wider HR projects as appropriate.
