You are about to become the Pensions Compliance and Controls Specialist to a major large in-house pension's team in the north, and take on an exciting opportunity with a team managing both Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution pension arrangements.

You will work with the Compliance and Technical team to support on technical, compliance, risk and internal control matters providing pensions input and assistance on areas of compliance, technical issues, helping to design policies and processes and supporting internal risk controls for the Pensions department.

Your past experience will include strong pension's technical knowledge in both defined benefit (DB) and defined contribution (DC). Ideally experience in working specifically on areas of compliance, technical and risk control or if not a strong forte and passion in this area. You will be a good communicator, effective at all levels, and capable of working on own initiative and with minimal guidance.

In your new role you will provide technical and compliance support to the in-house team including answering ad hoc technical queries, providing technical input to and reviewing member communications and supporting the development and delivery of training in these areas. You will support and develop risk identification and mitigation processes, including general operational and financial internal controls, and data protection and security. At the same time you will identify areas for improvement and help develop solutions and proposals that will improve and maximise effectiveness and efficiencies in the team, and assist with self-audit processes including development, testing and implementation delivery of changes to pension department system.

Externally you will monitor HMRC, regulatory and legislative material and make recommendations on, and support delivery of, required activity. You will also manage and deliver reporting to the Pensions Regulator and other important entities.
