Main Duties of the Job

As Head of Pensions Technical Excellence, you’ll lead the delivery of expert guidance on complex pension legislation, scheme rules, and regulatory requirements. You’ll be responsible for:

• Shaping and embedding technical excellence across the NHS Pension Service.
• Leading technical projects and ensuring compliance with statutory frameworks.
• Advising senior stakeholders and acting as a trusted ambassador for NHSBSA.
• Managing risk, audit, and assurance frameworks.
• Overseeing technical policy, governance, and operational readiness.
• Supporting the development of pension arrangements and ensuring best practice.
• Leading and developing a team of technical, compliance, and change specialists.

You’ll also play a key role in strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement.
