Appointments update 20 November 2020

Law Debenture has announced two appointments to its outsourced pension governance service, Pegasus.

The group has appointed Lee Spithray as senior pensions executive and Andy Hunt as pensions executive. Spithray joins the team with almost two decades’ worth of experience in consulting and in-house pensions management, and was previously head of pensions at the University of Oxford. Prior to this, he also held roles with DHL, Tesco and Willis Towers Watson. Hunt also brings “significant experience” to the role, and joins the team from Creative Benefit Solutions, where he held the role of pension scheme manager and provided secretarial, governance and project management services to DB schemes. He also has previous experience working at The Pensions Regulator.

Independent Trustee Services (ITS) has named Sarah Horan as director.

Horan will be based in Manchester, and brings more than 30 years’ experience in the pensions industry to the role, having most recently worked as head of trustee services at the Co-op scheme. Prior to this, she held roles at KPMG and Mercer, and has extensive experience of major corporate and scheme transactions, funding, covenant and investment, as well as trustee compliance and governance. Her appointment is the seventh major hire for ITS this year, following the appointment of John Lovell as director of governance services and two trustee director appointments.

PensionBee has appointed Mary Francis CBE as senior independent officer.

Francis will chair the Remuneration Committee and be a member of the Audit & Risk, Investment, and Nominations Committees. She has experience across the financial services sector and in corporate governance from her current position as non-executive director of Barclays, Barclays Bank and Valaris. Previously, she was on the board of Swiss RE Group, Centrica, and Aviva, and is also currently a member of the UK Takeover Appeal Board and the Advisory Panel of the Institute of Business Ethics. Her appointment comes alongside a number of internal promotions, including the promotion of former head of finance, Christoph Martin, to chief financial officer, and of former managing director, Lisa Picardo, to chief corporate officer.
