Appointments update 13 September

Clara-Pensions has selected its first trustees for its independent governing board: Alan Pickering CBE, Michael Chatterton and Frank Oldham.

Pickering will become the board’s first chair and is also the chairman of BESTrustees and a trustee of multiple pension schemes. He also chairs the Plumbing Industry Pension Scheme and the governance group of the Royal Mail Statutory Pension Scheme. Chatterton is managing director at Law Debenture, chairman on five schemes and sole trustee on two others. Oldham is a client director at Independent Trustee Services and a trustee director of the MMC UK Pension Fund.

Punter Southall Aspire have announced the appointment of Peter Selby as its new managing director of retail advice.

Selby joins Punter Southall Aspire following 25 years as strategic relationship manager at Scottish Widows and will manage its financial planning business and shape the design and implementation of its service proposition. He brings with him over 30 years of experience working in intermediated life, pension and investment sales.

RPMI Railpen has announced the appointment of Michelle Ostermann as chief fiduciary officer, investments, effective from 1 January 2019.

Ostermann will be responsible for determining the investment strategy and risk appetite of the £28bn railway pension schemes. She was previously employed as senior vice president at British Columbia Investment Management and brings 25 years of experience in the Canadian pensions, investment and insurance industries. Ostermann is also the vice chair of the board of directors of the Pension Investment Association of Canada.
