Appointments update 2 September 2020

Barnett Waddingham has announced the appointment of David Stoddard as COO.

Stoddard lead the operational implementation at Barnett Waddingham, working closely with senior partner, Andrew Vaughan, and managing partner, Marcus Whitehead, on all aspects of running the firm. He joins with over 20 years’ experience in the financial service industry, most recently having worked with Baringa Partners. Stoddard replaces Jane Galvin, who will be retiring later this year after more than 10 years with the firm.

Smart has appointed Andrew Evans group CEO and Will Wynne as group MD.

The appointments follow the provider's recent round of funding and reflects a new international structure. Commenting on his appointment, Evans emphasised that Smart “no longer remains a UK centric business”, stating that the new structure would facilitate in these international ambitions. The group also confirmed that further appointments for a new UK CEO and USA CEO would be announced “in the coming weeks”.

Redington has named Phil Symes as chief financial officer and an executive director to its board.

Symes, who took up the position on 21 August, will also become a member of Redington’s management team. Prior to joining Redington, Symes was group CFO for the Cambridge Education Group, and previously acted as CFO for Visa Europe for ten years. Redington has also announced the appointment of Feifei Zhang as chair of Chinese technology subsidiary, YuYuan Technology (Shanghai) Limited. Previously, Zhang was a founding partner, chief strategy officer and head of insurance and innovation at Mountain Creek Investment Management.
