Appointments update 2 December

- Intelligent Pensions has appointed Paul Whitehead as a retirement analyst to cover the North West England and North Wales areas.

Whitehead has worked in financial services for over 15 years and always specialised in the promotion of pension and retirement solutions. He joins Intelligent Pensions from LV= and prior to that was at AEGON Scottish Equitable.

- Hermes Investment Management has appointed Oliver Leyland as head of Latin America and senior analyst to join its London-based emerging markets investment team.

Leyland joins from Mirae Asset Global Investments, where he was a senior equity analyst based in New York covering Latin America and CEEMEA, as well as a member of the fund management team for GEM and global long-only equity products.

- Spence and Partners has appointed Richard Smith as scheme actuary. Smith will have a UK wide focus and service clients across Spence offices in Glasgow, London, Bristol and Belfast.

Smith has formerly held senior posts in Aon Hewitt and Towers Perrin and has a high level of experience working with trustee boards of FTSE 100 and other global multinational companies. He has advised clients on a range of pensions change projects.

- Burges Salmon has expanded its pensions team with four new appointments.

Crispin Freeman has been appointed as a senior associate and joins the firm from Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co. Charlotte Osmond joins as a newly qualified solicitor and trained at Linklaters. Amy Davies and Stacey Yon have qualified into the team having completed their training contracts with Burges Salmon.
