Our major client is seeking a highly technical pensions professional, also good on pensions systems, to join a small specialist team on a contract basis. This role is required to support a critical period of project delivery over the coming 6 months.

The project
The primary focus of this contract role will be to support a major project involving the transfer and implementation of a new pension scheme. You will be heavily involved in helping to re-write calculations specifications. These specifications are being built by a pensions administration system provider, and they will do all the testing on the build, you will check the end result works for future users.

You
You are someone with a technical and spreadsheet based background, who using your knowledge of scheme rules can convert scheme rules into calculations. These may be detailed calculations of often niche scenarios. You are someone who enjoys getting into the detail and then liaising with the systems provider doing the build to enable the system to do these calculations. When the software provider comes back to you, you do all the systems testing to ensure the build they have done matches the intended calculations, or if not, together you resolve the bugs.

Your role
You will be reviewing and rewriting calculation specifications based on scheme rules and liaising with the system provider to clarify technical queries. You will be testing system builds to ensure accuracy and functionality and identifying and resolving calculation discrepancies or bugs, and need the ability to manage and resolve detailed testing issues and liaise effectively with system providers.

Your skills
This work involves detailed and niche calculations, so a keen eye for technical accuracy and the ability to interpret complex scheme rules is essential. You need a deep technical knowledge of occupational pension schemes (DB in particular), experience of translating scheme rules into calculations, strong spreadsheet skills and experience working with complex data. A background in pensions system implementation, system testing, and scheme migration will be very helpful. Within this project will also be GMP reconciliation work, so experience of this will also be necessary as part of this role.

Who with and where
You will work closely with, and within, a small team of technical pensions specialists, including actuaries and professionals with strong technical pensions backgrounds. The team is led by an experienced Head of Pensions Administration Consulting, based in the London office. This role is home working, unless you wish to attend one of their offices in the UK
