You will be the new Secretary to the Trustee in this exciting and diverse role, where your core function will be to manage governance and related functions within the company in-house (outsourced) pension's team, offering key support to, and where appropriate, deputising for the Pensions Director as and when required. You will report into the Pensions Director and oversee one person directly.

Your new functions summarised will be Defined Benefit (DB) scheme secretary, lead on Defined Contribution (DC) governance, provide employee education and communications, ensure legal and regulatory requirements including GDPR policy, TPR reporting, and manage annual budgets and adviser fee management.

As Secretary to the Trustee you will manage trustee agendas and meeting arrangements with minimal supervision; lead operational aspects such as provision of benefit statements, trustee policies, member communications and trustee report & accounts / scheme audit / scheme return. You will also lead the DC governance committee, determining agendas and coordinating attendance.

You will enjoy keeping abreast of developing governance trends or requirements; ensure compliance with regulatory and Company GDPR obligations. You will enjoy training and be able to identify employee education needs and plan and run communication programmes for employees, including analysing and proposing tools that may enhance employee engagement.

Other elements of the role will be to prepare and monitor annual budgets for adviser fees, reflecting expected activities; manage invoicing processes to ensure efficient processing and payment. Support the Pensions Director in operating the UK Pensions Board, offering strategic input where needed within areas of knowledge; liaise regarding agendas and dates, prepare minutes promptly. Coordinate professional adviser reviews from time to time. Lead or support on special projects, depending on complexity and scope. Act as line manager of the Pensions Administration Adviser. Provide advice to the wider HR team and other colleagues to answer questions that arise. It is unusual and exciting to have so much else to do in a role alongside the Secretariat duties.
