Are you a Pensions Accountant seeking not just a new career move but a wider remit? For example do you enjoy liaising with external parties, and forging successful working relationships with company service providers? Do you also enjoy learning about and keeping up to date with Compliance and Governance, undertaking special projects? If yes, then our client's newly expanded vacancy as the Pensions Finance Manager (Pensions Accountant) also incorporates all these responsibilities and more. This is not your average pension's accounts role, but then you will be no average pension scheme accountant will you?

Your new role will be to manage the finance/accounts function of your employer's UK pension schemes collectively worth c£4.5bn. Develop robust key financial control systems to deliver management reports and statutory financial reporting for senior management, directors, and trustees. You will implement and review procedures, controls and processes for accounting system. Assist with the implementation of key investment strategy programs. Prepare, control, and monitor department and project budgets. You will also deal with the renewal of the Group Life Assurance policies, renewal of the Trustee Liability Insurance and liaise internally with Director of Risk Benefits and externally with professional advisers. You will have responsibility for the ongoing Scheme Risk Register and Conflicts of Interest Policy.

To undertake this challenging, and rewarding role, you will be a qualified accountant with experience of investments, reporting, and managing budgets. You will have been, or will be working in occupational pensions with knowledge of in-house DB and DC UK Pensions Schemes (if you have Irish schemes experience too this is advantageous but not essential). You will also know about the UK TPR and FCA regulatory and compliance requirements. Some additional skills you hopefully have, but may not have put to good use yet or are keen to now learn and develop are project management experience and relationship management. If you are keen to widen your repertoire of experience, alongside all of the aforementioned, this role will also encompass some payroll work and acting as Secretary to a few of the schemes.

This exciting role is working for a major name in retail, who have thrived during the pandemic. They are offering hybrid working, remote and office-based as regularly as needed by a small team of 5 core individuals. This is a rare chance to expand your remit and move onwards and upwards. Please get in touch ASAP if you wish to apply.
