Royal Mail are looking for experienced Pensions Administrators to join its award-winning Pensions Service Centre in Sheffield. We have various roles available; on both the Data Management Team and within the Pensions Operations area.

About the role

As a Pensions Administrator you will be responsible for the calculation and processing of members’ benefits based on their entitlements under the rules of the Royal Mail Pension Plan. You will be communicating member’s pension entitlements and resolution of member’s queries and ensuring delivery of the service to agreed standards, in accordance with Plan rules and HRS service specification.

The Data Management Team is responsible for processing 19 million interfaced data transactions and processing 75,000 rejected items from five sponsoring employer’s payroll units. You will be involved in processing a number of Annual Events, including Benefit Illustrations, Current Values and Pension Saving Statements to scheme members, covering requirements, System Development and Testing, Printing and Despatch, liaising with Clients and Suppliers. You will also provide statistical data on all Pension Scheme Members for the Accounts and Actuaries.

As part of the wider Pensions and Severance Team, you will develop and maintain positive, effective and professional working relationships with customers, clients, stakeholders and Royal Mail colleagues, delivering consistently excellent value-added service and will be flexible to undertake work in different teams within the Pension Service Centre according to business need.

About you

You will have strong English Language and Mathematics abilities, and will be educated to GCSE level (grades A* to C) or equivalent. A-Level qualifications are desirable, but not essential. You will possess or be willing to study for a professional pensions qualification (e.g. Pensions Management Institute APE, CPA or DPA) via a Workplace Pensions Apprenticeship scheme which, upon completion, can lead to a significant salary increase.

You will have a proven track record/demonstrable evidence as an experienced pensions practitioner with a broad understanding of pensions legislation, particularly Defined Benefit and Career Average schemes in a public-sector environment. You will be able to demonstrate experience of delivering a professional, customer focussed service within a commercial framework and have a track record of working flexibly to ensure that customer requirements are delivered.

You will have excellent planning and organisational skills, including experience of delivering to demanding timescales with demonstrably strong written and verbal communication skills and in-depth knowledge of all Microsoft Office software - Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
