£highly competitive salary and excellent benefits package
Hertfordshire
Permanent
You will be an enthusiastic and committed occupational pension professional ready to join an award-winning Pensions Team – to support their large UK Defined Benefit scheme with many members. Your strong technical and possibly actuarial skills (the last post-holder was an actuary and this lent well to the role), and excellent communication and organisational abilities will all make you the ideal person to successfully juggle multiple responsibilities, including exciting overseas elements to the role.

You will support the company in influencing developments in the UK and Europe in relation to occupational pension schemes, both directly and via wider industry groups. Sharing best practice on pensions with the company's subsidiaries and overseas businesses, and in the UK you will be one of the main 'go to' people for technical support to the in-house administration and communication teams, and will provide training to the Trustee board and on a one-to-one basis as required and manage the induction process for new Trustee Directors. You will also review complex calculations for senior colleagues and have one-to-one meetings to help them understand their benefits. In short you will be technically competent, and enjoy nothing more than explaining complex things in simple terms to help everyone in or related to the scheme.

You will provide secretarial support to the Trustee boards and deal with preparation for and organisation of Trustee and subcommittee meetings, including liaising with the Trustee’s advisers and the company's in-house investment manager, and greatly assist the Head of Group Pensions in supporting the Trustee board of the Pension Scheme, and its various subcommittees, UK and Ireland.

You will be someone who is able to deliver innovative solutions on the many projects faced by the Scheme, and manage budgets for schemes, identifying opportunities to reduce external fees where possible. You will draft annual reports working closely with the Pensions Finance Manager to ensure the documentation is compliant and produced on time, and liaise with other parties such as the Pensions Regulator. You will make the necessary regulatory filings in line with the Companies Act.

You will most certainly get out what you put in with this role, which has depth and width to keep you challenged but also allow you to create change for the better and make a valued contribution to the ongoing success of a large reputed in-house pension department.
