Appointments update 17 April

• Baring Asset Management has appointed Michael Annis as head of sales and business development and Kieran Stover as vice president of sales and business development.

Annis will take on his position in Toronto, Canada where he joins from J.P Morgan Asset Management as a consultant advisor.

Stover will take on his position in Portland, Oregon. He will be joining from Kleinwort Benson Investors International Ltd where he was a senior vice president of business development.

• Cynthia Sweeney Barnes has been appointed as head of global segments and EMEA at BNP Paribas Investment Partners.

She will lead the EMEA country teams and four client segment teams – corporates and endowments, insurance, pension funds, official institutions – to realise BNPP IP’s growth plans for its institutional franchise.

She has over 25 years of experience in asset management, during which she has led sales teams across various regions, capabilities and client segments.

• Morningstar UK has announced the appointment of two experienced investment analysts to its Morningstar OBSR manager research team.

Simon Dorricott and Linsay McPhater have joined the Morningstar OBSR manager research team, and will be responsible for analysing a range of funds and their respective managers across a broad spectrum of asset classes.

Dorricott joins from Standard & Poor’s, where he was an associate director on the fund research team, responsible for analysing and rating more than 100 funds across an array of equity sectors. Before that, Dorricott worked as an investment analyst for Origen Financial Services, covering a range of equity and fixed-income funds.

McPhater previously worked as a senior investment analyst for Dart Capital, covering a range of multi-asset funds. Prior to Dart Capital, she worked on the hedge fund, private equity, and multi-asset teams at Aberdeen Asset Management.

• LV= has appointed Angie Glover as transformation director for its retirement solutions business. Glover joins LV= from Partnership where she was IT & change director.

Glover will report to the managing director of retirement solutions, John Perks, and will be responsible for leading a new development programme for this business area of LV=. The programme will help ensure LV= continues to focus on meeting customer demands in the ever evolving market. Her team will also enhance the support LV= gives advisers.

Glover is an experienced director with extensive financial services knowledge including change, IT, operations, strategic planning, business re-engineering and general management. Her key expertise lies in leading significant programmes, involving customer propositions, enabling technology, operational processes and creating high performing teams.

• Accountancy and business advisory firm, BDO LLP, has announced that Mark Hunt will be the new head of its financial services practice.

The appointment reflects the importance that the firm places on the Financial Services sector, as the industry evolves to address greater regulation, more complex competition and increasing customer expectations.

Over Hunt’s 30 year career – 20 years of which have been as an partner (at KPMG from 1994 to 2007 and from 2007 to date with BDO) - he has gained significant experience in providing investigation, assurance and advisory services to regulated firms.

He is also a senior forensic and dispute advisory partner and retains audit responsible individual status, acting as concurring partner on some of BDO’s largest financial services audit clients.

• Neuberger Berman has announced the expansion of its global high yield team with the appointment of Andrew Wilmont as lead European high yield portfolio manager, based in London.

Wilmont, who most recently served as head of European high yield investments at Alcentra will be a senior member of Neuberger Berman’s global high yield team, reporting to Ann Benjamin, the firm’s chief investment officer for non-investment grade strategies.
