The Pensions Trust boosts its investment expertise

The Pensions Trust has upped its investment capability with the appointment of Aerion Fund Management's Emmanuel Bocquet and John Steel

Bocquet has been hired as the group’s portfolio strategist where he will provide strategic assistance to The Pensions Trust’s chief investment officer and Investment Committee. His responsibilities include driving the economic and market outlook for the investment strategy and all investment exposures in the Trust’s fund.

Bocquet previously worked at Aerion Fund Management, the in-house management arm of the National Grid UK Pension Scheme for over ten years. He has also held roles at Credit Lyonnais Securities and ANZ Investment Bank.

Steel has been appointed as The Pension Trust’s investment operations manager and will be responsible for the in-house investment team at an operational level and outsourced support services.

Steel joins The Pensions Trust with a solid foundation in investment operations management. His former roles have been with top UK occupational pension schemes including the British Gas Pension Scheme. His most recent position was as chief operating officer at Aerion Fund Management.

The Pensions Trust Chief Executive Officer Mike Ramsey said: “The Pensions Trust is one of the largest occupational pension schemes in the UK with c.£7 billion in assets under management. Our investment team has delivered excellent results in recent years and has given medium and smaller sized schemes access to asset classes that would ordinarily only be available to £1 billion plus schemes. We welcome Emmanuel and John to the team at an exciting time as we continue to take on new DB schemes to the Trust.”
