News in brief w/c 13 February

Dentons has received a Defaqto 5 Star Rating for its newly launched Dentons SIPP. This is the highest level of rating from the independent financial research company that can be awarded.

Barnett Waddingham is launching a specialist employee benefits practice from its Liverpool office. The practice will provide advice to companies on all types of defined contribution pension schemes and group insurance arrangements such as group life assurance, income protection, private medical and critical illness. It will also help employers to plan for any upcoming changes to legislation.

The Pensions Management Institute (PMI) and Imperial College London have announced that agreement in principle on a Memorandum of Understanding has been reached to explore the longer term options for retirement provision in the UK. Both will work to address longevity issues and pension deficits.
