RPMI Railpen invests in broadband provider

RPMI Railpen has announced its £45m investment in broadband provider Gigaclear. The total deal is made up of a £35m investment into company and the purchase of £10m of existing shares. The purchase follows considerable investments in Gigaclear from existing shareholders including Infracapital and Woodford Investment Management. RPMI Railpen investment director Paul Bishop said the partnership is a "natural fit" and will generate "strong returns over time" to pay members benefits sustainably.

Hymans Robertson commences with its largest TPA partnership

Hymans Robertson has been appointed by Taylor Wimpey pension scheme trustees to provide third party administration services. With around 18,000 members, it is Hymans Robertson's largest TPA client to date. Taylor Wimpey is a FTSE 100 company and operates 24 regional offices across England, Scotland and Wales. Hymans Robertson is the first PASA accredited provider.


ACA pensions archive goes live online

The Association of Consulting Actuaries (ACA) and The Pensions Archive Trust (PAT) have announced the launch of the online ACA archive collection held in the Pensions Archive at the London Metropolitan Archives. The collection is available on the PAT website under the ACA "Our collections" section. ACA chairman Bob Scott said: “It is important that we look back from time to time at how occupational pensions developed in the UK so we can learn from the good points and endeavour not to make the mistakes of the past."

The Pensions Archive Trust chairman Alan Herbert added: "We are delighted at this development which will give researchers and students of pensions history easy access to the ACA collection. The collection provides an insight into the development of pension provision in the UK going back to 1951 when the ACA was formed."
