Appointments update 18 November

- Otto Thoresen has stepped down from his position as director general of the Association of British Insurers to become chairman of Nest.

Thoresen will be succeeded by Huw Evans and will replace current Nest chairman Lawrence Churchill, whose term will finish in February 2015. Prior to his role at the ABI, Thoresen held roles at Aegon, Abbey Life, Royal Life Holdings and Scottish Equitable.

- Avida International has appointed Gordon Clark to its advisory board.

Clark is currently the director of the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment at the University of Oxford and holds a number of other academic appointments. He was recently identified as one of the world’s four most influential academics in the field of investment management.

- Inalytics has appointed Neiloy Ghosh as director of client services.

Ghosh was formerly head of investment office at Hermes Investment Management and joins with 17 years' experience in the asset management industry. He will be responsible for reporting the results of the firms analysis to clients.

- Bower Retirement Services is building its senior team further with the appointment of Jon King as non-executive chairman.

The appointment takes effect immediately. King’s career in financial services spans almost 30 years, the majority of which has been spent championing the equity release cause. Most recently, he was managing director of equity release provider More2Life from 2010 to 2013, during which time he oversaw a four-fold increase in new business volumes.
