An opportunity has arisen for an experienced professional to join one of the largest Local Government Pension Schemes and play a key role in delivering investment strategy and asset allocation for the West Midlands Pensions Fund.

With over 300,000 members and 600 participating employers across the West Midlands, the £14 billion Fund is creating a new role to lead on financial risk management and support the transition of Fund investments into the LGPS Central Pool (with projected assets under management of £40 billion) from April 2018.

An excellent communicator will advise and support the Fund Trustees and work closely with a wide variety of partners and stakeholders. The successful candidate will be able to analyse and translate complex information and will excel in providing excellent customer service. Providing expertise in financial markets, investment strategy and risk management including responsible investment, the role will also lead the Fund’s finance function and ensure integration of funding and investment strategy.

The post holder is expected to be a postgraduate with a relevant professional qualification and to have good knowledge and understanding of investment markets. Knowledge of a variety of asset classes and portfolio structures is expected. Strong communication skills, effective relationship management and leadership skills are required. The ability to deliver positive change together with a commercial acumen is highly valued.
