Speaker Profile: Antony Barker

Antony is launching the UK’s first SuperFund consolidator of private sector sponsored defined benefit pension schemes.
He is the former CIO at Santander UK where he delivered a 15% pa return for the award-winning £11bn fund, creating an innovative portfolio of investments covering entertainment arenas, yacht marinas, Mexican gas pipelines, student housing, Nigerian telephone masts (towers), mushroom farms and a cyber-attack proof phone that features in Washington's International Spy Museum.
His international career with Deloitte, BNP Paribas, Mercer and other consulting firms spans corporate finance, banking, insurance, supra-nationals and governments covering both assets and liabilities as advisor, owner and manager. As well as developing the UK’s first consultant-offered fiduciary management service, he was seconded to the Government to create the Pension Protection Fund and personal accounts (now NEST), advise on the Ogden discount rate for damages claims and set up the decommissioning funding arrangements for the UK’s new nuclear programme.
