Speaker Profile: Steve Hodder

Steve is a Partner in LCP’s Investment team and is an established lead adviser to a range of clients, including complex multi-billion schemes and simpler, smaller schemes. Steve advises both scheme trustees and sponsors. Over the past five years, Steve has led LCP’s proposals to reform DB pensions policy, working closely with UK government and regulators and establishing an industry-wide working group of advisers and trustees. His ideas have fed directly into various government consultations, and ultimately measures on DB scheme surpluses in the 2025 Pension Schemes Bill. Steve is a passionate advocate that, in the right circumstances, well-funded DB schemes can deliver value to both members and sponsors through adopting purposeful run-on strategies. He has led a number of large schemes through pioneering surplus strategies, including advising Stagecoach on their landmark “run-on with a new sponsor” transaction with Aberdeen.
