Speaker Profile: Steve Hodder

Steve helps large institutional investors deliver better returns. He is an experienced negotiator of DB pension scheme investment strategies, advising both corporate sponsors and scheme trustees. He has advised a number of large schemes to implement “productive run-on” strategies expected to deliver higher benefits for members and surplus refunds for sponsors. Alongside his day job, Steve has been leading LCP’s proposals to reform how DB pension schemes are managed, working with government, regulators and industry bodies. He believes that the £1tn + of assets in DB schemes can be "unlocked" from excessively prudent investment strategies to drive significant benefits for scheme members, UK companies, and boost growth of the UK economy. His ideas have fed into the Government’s recent DB policy proposals, set out in the 2023 and 2024 Mansion House speeches, 2024 DWP consultation and the January 2025 Chancellor announcement re DB surplus release.
