News in brief 13 July

The Pensions Administration Standards Association (PASA) has published its Administration Governance Trustee Checklist. This has been developed in response to The Pensions Regulator’s (TPR) drive to improve the governance of pension schemes, under its 21st Century Trusteeship initiative. TPR has identified that trustees should focus on the key areas which are vital for good member outcomes, including administration and recordkeeping. The checklist is an additional tool to help trustees to evidence and action appropriate levels of governance over their administration provider.

The North of England Zoological Society Superannuation Fund Scheme has appointed Spence & Partners to manage the scheme. Services to the 260 member, £23m scheme will include actuarial, investment and pension scheme administration. Spence & Partners head of trustee advisory services Alan Collins said: “Scheme funding levels have improved over recent years, so it is crucial for trustees and advisers to work collaboratively to capitalise on the market opportunities that this presents, and to work to improve the security of benefits for members. I have great confidence that the services we offer will assist all parties in achieving their goals.”
