DB deficit increases to £252.2bn during November

The combined deficit of the 6,316 schemes in the PPF 7800 index has increased from £235.7bn at the end of October to £252.2bn at the end of November, while the funding ratio decreased from 81.7 per cent to 80.8 per cent.

Total scheme assets rose by 1.1 per cent during November to £1063.8bn, but liabilities increased by 2.2 per cent to £1316.0bn. At the end of November 2011, the aggregate deficit stood at £229.3bn, with assets at £994.6bn and liabilities of £1223.9bn, resulting in a funding level of 81.3 per cent.

At the end of November 2012, 5,205 schemes were in deficit and 1,111 schemes in surplus. A month earlier these numbers stood at 5,160 and 1,156, respectively.
