Police contribution rate proposals for 2013/14 announced

Police minister Damian Green has today written to the Police Negotiating Board (PNB) to consider an increase in contribution rates for 2013-14, taking effect from 1 April 2013.

Proposed increases will see officers’ contribution rates in the Police Pension Scheme (PPS) increase to 13.5 per cent and rates in the New Police Pension Scheme (NPSS) increase to 11.5 per cent. The consultation on this will close on 20 February.

In 2011, the Home Secretary outlined her proposals to increase the amount paid by police officers into the PPS and NPSS by an average of 3.2 per cent over a three year period commencing in April 2012.
