Administration Seminar

By Jessica Baggaley

Trustees have raised concerns over the excessive size of board packs as a result of streamlined administration processes, a recent online poll by eShare has revealed.

According to the poll, 100 per cent of participants agreed that board packs should strive for ‘quality over quantity’ instead of increasing the number of papers without necessarily improving content.

The poll found that a copious amount of arguably irrelevant information, along with many important documents appearing within packs without enough attention to their refining has prompted trustees to ask for the important boardroom documents to be more concise in efforts to make efficient use of time.

The use of iPad technology in boardrooms should be seen “as an opportunity to improve the quality of board papers, and not just an excuse to heap yet more pages, presentations and files on to overloaded oversight committees” commented one respondent, trustee Derek Scott
